any leftist mutuals have experience volunteering with smaller campaigns? bc i got talked into one for a socialist who is running as a prgressive but i think he’s a socialist the way bernie is and its very frustrating and my hearts not really in this but what is the downside to helping?? also being able to relate to people politiically? or w/e? like theyre mostly dem socialists, really into DSA type people, and yes i know DSA isn’t just dem oscialists bc i am part of dsa but my chapter is so inactive that the only people ive spoken to are like, career dsa people and one dude who just wants to get the guy elected. like people who are excited about the squad, who sometimes do good work but are fallable and human. what am i doing i am anti-hierarchy, wtf im doing with people who want the guy running to become part of the squad

the Dirtbag Left/Leftist Twitter has an issue with o memes. the brainlet wojak memes which are incredibly ableist. posting them only harms progressive causes, so if the fact that you’re promoting ableism doesn’t make you reconsider posting said memes, first of all, ur a POS, second, think of all the disabled leftists you’re alienating. leftism can’t succeed and won’t unless we are intersectional.

we have to acknowledge thst classism exacerbates prejudice, but that socialism isn’t a magic solution to a perfect world. racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ageism, colorism and ableism can all still exist under socialism. if we’re not careful, they will. socialism is the best system we have so far, it isn’t perfect though. it won’t level the playing field for marginalized communities unless we design an inclusive system. at best, socialism without liberalism, without identity politics, just provides a higher standard of living for oppressed people. that would be better than what we have now, but it’s not good enough. a good economy and economic system can only do so much. a truly just world demands the participation and tolerance of all marginalized communities. if you’re looking for more insight, read this by #RedMenacePodcast

“Solid self-esteem in adulthood is hard earned. It comes from tapping into our own creativity and personal pleasures, from developing our competence and our connections, from participating in friendship, intimacy, and community. It develops from living in accord with our deeply held values and priorities, from learning to recognize and share both competence and vulnerability, and from navigating relationships with integrity, balance, and generosity of spirit. Living well is the work of a lifetime that demands our full attention.”

— Harriet Lerner in Fear and Other Uninvited Guests: Tackling the Anxiety, Fear, and Shame That Keeps Us from Optimal Living and Loving, p. 70.

Do y’all know where the phrase “eat the rich” comes from or do you just repeat it cause you heard it elsewhere?

It’s not a bad thing, I just saw someone say “we never said who would eat the rich” and realized a lot of y’all might not have heard the full quote

It’s from Rousseau and it’s “When the people shall have nothing more to eat, they will eat the rich"

And, well, there’s a lot of people with nothing to eat…

insanitysscribblings

The poor cried,

"We are starving. There is no more bread, and we have nothing to eat."

The rich man said,

"Not my problem you don't work for your bread,"

as if he did not snatch away the grain by his own greedy hands and create filling bread for his own overflowing mouth.

The poor cried,

"We are dying. There is no more medicine, and we're all ill."

The rich man said,

"Not my problem you don't take care of yourselves,"

as if he did not buy all the medicine and raise prices so high

the gods themselves would not

be able to reach.

The poor people

stopped crying,

and the rich man was satisfied...

Until they came knocking at his door one night;

their faces were sunken,

their flesh decaying,

their eyes sightless.

They were monsters

of the rich man's

own making.

As they devoured his flesh,

the rich man cried,

"Please, spare me!"

The ravenous zombies said,

"Not our fault

you fattened yourself

for slaughter."
